Studio hire terms & conditions

  1. Advance payment is required when you book studio space at Marina Studios. All new hirers are required to pay at the time of booking, if payment is not received within two working days of us receiving the booking request form, the provisional booking will be cancelled. Payments can be made by credit or debit card. The Marina Studios has full disabled access including changing rooms.
  2. There is a 50% cancellation fee for bookings cancelled less than 2 weeks in advance.
  3. Regular bookings will be invoiced monthly (normally end calendar month). All invoices must be paid within 14 days otherwise hirers risk cancellation of further bookings.
  4. Percussion is not permitted in any studio without prior arrangement. If you intend to use percussion this must be stated at the time of booking when you will be advised if this is possible. NB Because of our proximity to residential and other commercial properties it is sometimes not possible to use percussion in certain studios on week day hours. Noise levels in all studios must be kept to a reasonable level. Any classes causing noise disturbance to other users will be advised to reduce noise levels by Marina Studios staff. All users are asked to consider other users and local residents when using the studios.
  5. Footwear in the studios:
    In all studios only indoor dance shoes such as trainers / soft light sole shoes are permitted, no heels, tap or flamenco shoes. No outdoor shoes are permitted and all shoes must be non-marking. If your shoes mark the floor please remove them.
    If any damage or excess marks are caused to the floor, the hirer will incur the cost of cleaning of £30. Hirers should report any excessive marks they see on the studio floor at the beginning of their session otherwise they may be charged for the cleaning cost.
  6. Should you require any other equipment (eg chairs and tables) this must be agreed at time of booking. After this point we cannot guarantee availability of equipment. On booking we are able to set these up for you for a small fee, please contact us to discuss further.
  7. Studio hirers must keep to their allotted time slots and their allocated studio. Those who persistently fail to keep to their allotted times will not be allowed to book any studio space in the future. Hirers must ensure that class warm up and cool down is allowed for in the studio booking time. Studio times and locations may be changed or cancelled by the Administration and Finance office due to internal events. Where possible hirers will be given one month notice.
  8. All bookings are made on our company system and hirers will receive confirmation from this system. You must ensure that you have received the confirmation by email for the studio booking dates, times and location. This information should be bought with you on the day of your booking to resolve any issues that may arise. The same applies for cancelling a booking, otherwise you will be charged.
  9. No food or drink may be taken into the studios except bottled water.
  10. If you wish to film in the studios this must be agreed at the time of booking, as different terms and conditions apply.
  11. All studios are equipped with a full PA system. A CD player is available on request but must be booked. A general jack cable is supplied which a standard headphone fitting. If other cables are needed you must ensure you have them as this will not be provided. We have a projector for hire at an additional cost of £20 per session. This must also be booked with at least 2 weeks notice. Please note that the equipment must not be moved around the room without permission and no objects should be kept on top of the cabinet (especially food or drinks).
  12. All external hirers must make themselves familiar with the fire evacuation procedures (attached) and must make sure class participants are briefed in case of fire. It is the responsibility of the hirer to register all participants in their studio
  13. External hirers are advised not to exceed the recommended studio maximum capacity.
  14. Changing facilities are available on site
  15. If a session involves participants who are under the age of 18 or classed as vulnerable adults the external hirer is responsible for ensuring that the relevant DBS checks have been obtained.
  16. All external hirers are responsible for ensuring their session is run in line with current health and safety legislation and best practice guidelines. Marina Studios takes no responsibility for the content or health and safety of classes run by external hirers. All Reception staff are First Aid trained, this is also where the First Aid Kit and Accident book is kept.
  17. Marketing & Publicity guidelines:
    1. Marina Studios logo may not be used in connection with any hire, unless the performance or workshop has been directly commissioned by Marina Studios.
    2. No images of Marina Studios may be used without the written approval of the Communications department and must be fully credited.
    3. Location must be listed as “Marina Studios”. The address for attendees is 11 Mermaid Walk, Brighton Marina, BN2 5WA

    5. We have very limited space for leaflets therefore permission must be requested before these can be displayed
